
Anderson Closes with 69 to Take Fourth at Redbird

NORMAL, Ill. -- Ball State sophomore women's golfer Sydney Anderson fired the best round of her collegiate career Monday to finish in the top 5 at Illinois State's Redbird Invitational.
Anderson, competing as an individual, shot a bogey-free 69 (-3) to move six spots up the leaderboard into a tie for fourth, marking the best finish of her college career. The Columbus, Indiana, product turned in a clean scorecard with three birdies to finish the 54-hole event with a 2-over par total of 218 (77-72-69).
Evansville's Kayla Katterhenry claimed medalist honors at Weibring Golf Club, finishing five shots clear of the field at 8 under par. Boston College took home the team championship with a total of 890 (+26), edging Northern Illinois by two shots.
Ball State finished in a tie for 10th with a team total of 930 (+66) in its first event of the season. The Cardinals posted a score of 309 on the final day, counting a trio of 77s from Kelsey Sear, Allison Lindley and Morgan Nadaline along with a 78 from Manon Tounalom.
Tounalom led the five-player Ball State lineup with a 27th-place finish at 230 (+14). Sear and Lindley, who carded identical scores all three rounds, tied for 33rd at 233 (+17).
Ball State will return to action Sept. 19-20 with its home tournament, the Cardinal Classic, at The Players Club in Yorktown.
