Teammates Surprised Lorina White with Mother's Visit to Muncie
Ball State senior Lorina White was named Defensive Player of the Year in the Mid-American Conference last season.  She helped lead her team to a MAC regular season title.  She scored the game-winning goal this year at ACC foe Louisville.  White's done a lot in her soccer career, but before last week her mother had yet to see her play on this stage.
A native of Poughkeepsie, NY, White is the eldest daughter to Laura Jackson. Â Poughkeepsie's a little ways north of New York City and an 11-hour drive from Muncie. Â Jackson had never before stepped foot in an airplane. Â A single mother, Jackson's worked hard to provide for White and her siblings. Â So sufice it to say, Lorina wasn't expecting to see her mother on senior night last Friday. Â But that's where things get interesting.
Tristin Stuteville and Allison Abbe are White's roommates and teammates.  Knowing that White's mother hasn't had the chance to see her play, their minds got to work.  The duo mentioned the fact to Tristin's father and one thing led to another before Jackson was on a plane bound for Indianapolis.  Lorina had no idea.  Her teammates kept her out of the loop of what they'd helped plan.
Thursday after practice the Cardinals headed to their locker room underneath Scheumann Stadium, waiting there until just after 6pm. Â It was at that point that Jackson was ushered in the back door, catching her daughter by surprise and bringing White to tears.
Ball State All-Access was invited along Thursday evening and again on senior night last Friday. Â The video provides a behind the scenes look to the special senior night for White and her play on the field that added the cherry on top.
