Women?s Tennis Wraps Up Day One At Milwaukee Classic

MILWAUKEE, Wis. - The Ball State women's tennis team opened its fall campaign Friday at the 41st annual Milwaukee Tennis Classic. The event is hosted by Marquette University and held at the Town Club in Fox Point, Wisconsin.
The Cardinals started the day with a doubles match against Boise State. Ball State won both of its competitions against the Broncos. Carmen Blanco paired up with teammate Rosalinda Calderon for a 6-1 victory over the Boise State's twosome of Milena Toseva and Lilian Poling. Audrey Berger alongside doubles partner Julia Sbircea followed suite after posting a 6-3 defeat over the Broncos Nancy Menjivar and Kirsty Venter.
Ball State closed the day with singles play against Big Ten foe Wisconsin. The Cardinals earned five total victories over the Badgers. Blanco, Peyton Gollhofer, Sbircea and Berger took each of their respective opponents down in straight sets. Isabelle Dohanics registered a three set thriller after dropping the first set 7-6, she came back to take sets two and three 6-4, 6-3 from Wisconsin's Kelsey Grambeau for the win.
The Ball State women's tennis team continues action at the 41st annual Milwaukee Tennis Classic Saturday when it faces Wisconsin in doubles action at 10 a.m. (EST). After that, the Cardinals will play Marquette in singles play with a 12 p.m. (EST) first serve.
