Men's Golf Wraps up Opening Event at Wolf Run

ZIONSVILLE, Ind. -- Keegan McKinney led the Ball State men's golf team Sunday with a 1-over par 72 in the final round of the Wolf Run Intercollegiate.
Johnny Watts added a round of 74. The duo tied for 29th place with scores of 149 (+7) in the rain-shortened, 36-hole event hosted by Indiana at Wolf Run Golf Club.
Illinois came from 11 shots back entering the day to win by 13 with a two-day score of 561 (-7). On a day when the average score for the field was 76.29, the Illini had all five of their players under par, including four in the 60s.
First-round leader Purdue (+6) finished second, and Kentucky (+7) took third.
Ball State posted a team score of 311 in the final round to finish 12th with a total of 615 (+47) in the first of six events on its fall schedule.
Timothy Wiseman, competing as an individual for the Cardinals, followed Watts and McKinney on the leaderboard in a tie for 45th at 153 (+11).
Ball State will return to action Sept. 19-20 with the Inverness Invitational in Toledo, Ohio.
