Muncie, Ind. - The 2015-16 Ball State University men's tennis team was named an Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-Academic Team after earning a 3.536 grade point average on Ball State's 4.0 scale. This marks the third straight year the Cardinals have earned the team honor.
Seven members of the squad received individual ITA Scholar-Athlete accolades--freshman Conner Andersen (3.933), junior Lucas Andersen (3.793), freshman Marko (3.881) and Nemanja Guzina (3.752), junior Matt Helm (3.923), sophomore Jan Jirus (3.505) and junior Andrew Stutz (3.988). Lucas Andersen has received the honor three times along with teammates Helm and Stutz.
The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). All varsity letter winners should be factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year (including fall 2015 and spring 2016).
In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must meet the following criteria: 1.) be a varsity letter winner, 2.) have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and 3.) have been enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters (including freshman through senior year).
