Men?s Golf 11th in Strong Field at Mason Rudolph

FRANKLIN, Tenn. -- The Ball State men's golf team posted two rounds of 300 on Saturday and finds itself in 11th place at Vanderbilt's Mason Rudolph Championship.
Keegan McKinney leads the Cardinals in a tie for 36th with a total of 149 (+7) after a windy opening day on the South Course at the Vanderbilt Legends Club.
Three SEC teams, all ranked among the top 10 in the Golfweek national rankings, lead the way. No. 5 Vanderbilt is on top at 566 (-2), followed by No. 7 Florida at 569 (+1) and No. 4 Alabama at 573 (+5). The 14-team field features seven of the nation's top 50 teams.
All five players in the Ball State lineup are within five strokes of one another. Johnny Watts is one shot behind McKinney in a tie for 44th at 150 (+8), while James Blackwell is tied for 51st at 152 (+10). Michael VanDeventer and Timothy Wiseman are tied for 57th at 153 (+11).
Florida's Gordon Neale holds a two-shot lead on the individual leaderboard at 138 (-4). Six players are under par, including four who are ranked among the top 30 in the country.
Both rounds followed a similar pattern for Ball State with strong starts and challenging finishes. The Cardinals will look to make a move in the final round, which will be played Sunday. They will get their round started at 8:15 a.m. CT (9:15 a.m. ET).
