April 23, 2016 | Soccer
MUNCIE, Ind. -- The Ball State soccer team closed its spring schedule Friday evening with a 2-0 shutout of Grace College at the Briner Sports Complex.
Kelsey Wendlandt and Shannon Greeley scored goals as the Cardinals defeated a Grace team that finished the2015 season ranked No. 11 in the NAIA coaches poll.
It was a nice way to cap the spring for Greeley, who missed fall season because of injury.
“Shannon had a very good game, and we are delighted to see her perseverance and hard work pay off,” Ball State coach Craig Roberts said. “We had been working with her on getting forward and scoring from her midfield position, and she got one today.”
The Cardinals wrapped up their spring schedule at 4-1-1, with the only loss coming at Notre Dame. It was a spring in which the team continued to build on its Mid-American Conference championship season from the fall.
“Grace played very well,” Roberts said, “They are well organized and well coached.”
“Tonight was a good finish to the spring season. I'm really happy with how much we progressed in each of the games we played. We will take a lot out of it as we move forward toward next season.”
