MUNCIE, Ind. -- The Ball State women's golf team opens play against nine other teams Friday morning in the Mid-American Conference Championships in Noblesville, Ind.
The Cardinals will tee off at 8:50 a.m. in the first round at Purgatory Golf Club. The three-day, 54-hole event will determine the league's automatic qualifier for the NCAA Championships.
Ball State's lineup will feature Allison Lindley, Kelsey Sear, Sydney Anderson, Morgan Nadaline and Kayla Adamson. Lindley (76.55) and Sear (77.74) lead the team in stoke average, while the pair has combined for nine top-10 finishes this season.
One of Lindley's top-10's came during the fall season at The Preview on the same Purgatory course that will host this week's championships. The Cardinals finished fifth of 13 teams at The Preview, and Lindley tied for third individually.
Ball State has twice finished as the MAC runner-up (2010 and 2012). The Cardinals are coming off a second-place finish in their final regular season tournament at Eastern Kentucky's Colonel Classic. Lindley came in fourth place and Sear tied for eighth.
Kent State, No. 14 in the latest Golfstat rankings, is the defending champion after winning last season at Shaker Run Golf Club outside Cincinnati. Josée Doyon of the Golden Flashes returns this year as the defending individual medalist.
