March 22, 2016 | Women's Golf
SORRENTO, Fla. -- Kelsey Sear closed Tuesday with a 71 (-1), her second under-par round in three days, to finish in a tie for third on the individual leaderboard at Morehead State's Citrus Challenge.
The Ball State women's golf team posted a team score of 305 to tie for sixth out of 20 teams with a 54-hole total of 909 (+45) at Red Tail Golf Club. The Cardinals were 10 shots back of a trio of co-champions at 899: Western Kentucky, Elon and James Madison.
Sear, coming off a win at last week's Bulldog Florida Invitational, ended the tournament at 1 over par (217). She was three shots off the pace of individual medalist Kelsey Badmaev (214) of Elon.
In addition to Sear's 71, Ball State also counted a 73 from Allison Lindley, a 79 from Morgan Nadaline and an 82 from Sydney Anderson in the final round.
Lindley bounced back from a challenging second round and jumped 23 spots up the leaderboard into a tie for 33rd. She was Ball State's second-best finisher at 230 (+14).
Nadaline (233) tied for 50th, while Anderson and Kayla Adamson tied for 62nd at 235.
Sear's career-best score entering this week's tournament was a 72, and she bettered that twice with a 70 in round one and a 71 in round three. She has now finished among the top 15 in three of Ball State's four events this spring.
The Cardinals will continue their season April 1-2 at Eastern Kentucky's Colonel Classic at Arlington Golf Club in Richmond, Ky.
