
Men's Tennis Falls 6-1 To Cleveland State Sunday

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State men's tennis team suffered a 6-1 loss against Cleveland State Sunday afternoon at the Muncie YMCA Tennis Center. With the loss, the Cardinals fall to 4-5 overall while the Vikings improved to 8-4 this spring season.
The Cardinals ended this weekend's play with a 2-1 record after sweeping their double header Friday over IU Southeast and Taylor.
Ball State fell behind 1-0 early after losing the doubles point. Despite the loss, the No. 1 duo of Lucas Andersen and Andrew Stutz defeated Cleveland State's Joe VanMeter and Andre Mick by a score of 6-2.
Lucas Andersen improved to 6-3 on the year at No. 1 singles after posting a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Cleveland State's Colton Buffington. The Cardinals went to three sets on courts two, three and four today. On court two, Stutz dropped his first set 6-4 but came back strong in the second set for a 7-5 win, he would then fall to VanMeter 6-4 in the third stanza. At the No. 3 position, Nemanja Guzina won a first set tiebreaker 7-6 (4) then went on to lose sets two and three. Conner Andersen also took an early 6-4 edge over his opponent but couldn't hold on for the victory.
The Ball State men's tennis team remains at home when it hosts Butler Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Muncie YMCA Tennis Center.
