Lindley, Sear Lead Women?s Golf at FGCU Eagle Invite

ESTERO, Fla. -- The Ball State women's golf team closed the FGCU Eagle Invitational Sunday with its low round of the week, while juniors Allison Lindley and Kelsey Sear finished among the top 12 on the individual leaderboard.
Only three of the 15 teams in the field posted a better final-round score than Ball State's 306. The Cardinals finished the event ninth with a three-day total of 930 (+66) at Stoneybrook Golf Club.
Mercer led wire-to-wire and finished as the tournament champion at 894 (+30). Toledo (+39) placed second, followed by Elon (+50), Xavier (+52) and FGCU (+54).
Sear led Ball State in the final round with a 1-over par 73. The team also counted a 74 from Lindley, a 79 from Kayla Adamson and an 80 from Sydney Anderson.
Lindley spent the entire week among the top 10 and finished the event tied for sixth place with a 54-hole total of 225 (+9). Sear's 73, the fourth-best score of any player in the field Sunday, moved her 14 spots up the leaderboard and into a tie for 11th place at 227 (+11).
Mercer's Payton Schanen cruised to individual medalist honors with a score of 212 (-4), while Xavier's Hannah Lee (+4) finished eight shots back in second place.
The Eagle Invitational was Ball State's first event of the spring season. The Cardinals will return to action Feb. 26-28 at the Rio Verde Collegiate Invitational in Arizona.
