Women’s Golf Finishes Runner-up at Kzoo Classic

PORTAGE, Mich. -- The Ball State women's golf team held on to second place Tuesday at Western Michigan's Kzoo Classic, closing with a round of 309.
The Cardinals' 54-hole total of 913 (+49) trailed only Mid-American Conference foe Eastern Michigan (+32) on the final leaderboard. BSU finished ahead of the other four MAC schools in the 10-team field, including third-place Western Michigan (+61).
Allison Lindley led Ball State with a 74 in the final round at The Moors Golf Club. The team also counted a 76 from Sydney Anderson, a 78 from Kelsey Sear and an 81 from Morgan Nadaline. The average score for the field was 81.4.
Sear, who entered the day in third place, finished in a tie for fourth at with a score of 225 (+9). It was her first top-5 finish in three tournaments this year but her fourth in the past eight events dating back to last spring.
Lindley's 74 vaulted her into a tie for ninth on the final leaderboard at 228 (+12). It was her ninth top-10 result since the beginning of last season.
Anderson (+14) finished 12th and Manon Tounalom (+19) tied for 17th to give Ball State four players among the top 20. Anderson recorded her third straight top-12 finish to begin the season, while Tounalom posted the best result of her young freshman campaign.
Ohio's Hailey Hrynewich was the only player under par for the tournament, finishing seven shots clear of the field at 1 under to claim medalist honors.
Ball State has now finished fourth or better in its past two tournaments. The Cardinals will continue their fall schedule next week, competing Monday and Tuesday at Toledo's Rocket Classic. The event will be held at the Catawba Island Club in Port Clinton, Ohio.
