
Men’s Swimming and Diving to Compete in First Home Meet of the Season

MUNCIE, Ind. – The Ball State men's swimming and diving team will host its first home meet of the 2016-17 season on Friday (Oct. 28) as Ablion College and Rose-Hulman come to the Lewellen Aquatics Center. The meet is set to begin at 6 p.m.
Last week at the Indiana Intercollegiate Meet, Ball State began its 2016-17 season by placing second out of the eight teams competing.
Sophomores Lane Sawyer and Gabe Dean will both be competing on the diving board for the Cardinals. In last week's action, Sawyer placed sixth in three-meter diving with a final score of 218.25. Dean placed eighth in the three-meter diving event with a final score of 192.35. The pair also placed eighth and 10th, respectfully, on the one-meter board.
Senior Tanner Barton, an Academic All-American and school record holder in the 200 fly, will be competing in multiple events in the Cardinals first home competition. At the Indiana Intercollegiate, Barton finished fifth in the 100 yard butterfly and 11th 200 yard freestyle.
Senior Austin Green, also looked strong last weekend, finishing fourth in the 50 yard freestyle and fifth in the 100 yard freestyle. Green will look to lead the Cardinals in those events on Friday.
Freshmen Chase Jackson and Ben Andrew will look to continue their strong showings from last weekend. Jackson placed eighth in the 100 yard backstroke and seventh as part of the 200 yard medley relay. Andrew placed ninth in the 50 yard freestyle and 11th in the 100 yard butterfly.
