
Men's Tennis Defeats Detroit In Doubleheader Action

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Ball State men's tennis team split its doubleheader Saturday afternoon at the Michigan State Indoor Tennis Facility. The Cardinals fell 4-3 to Michigan State in the first match then closed the day with a 5-2 victory over Detroit Mercy.
The Cardinals are now 2-1 on the season while the Spartans improve to 4-2 and the Titans fall to 1-3 overall.
Ball State dropped both of its doubles points today against Michigan State and Detroit Mercy. Lucas Andersen paired up with Andrew Stutz for the lone doubles win of the day against Detroit Mercy defeating the Titans twosome Nicholas Solarewicz and Patryk Koscielski by a score of 7-5.
The Cardinals rallied back in singles action taking three from the Spartans on courts one, four, and six. Ball State then won five of the six matches in their second match over Detroit to take the match from the Titans.
Lucas Andersen went 2-0 on the day at the No. 1 singles position posting a three set victory over Michigan State's Mac Roy, 6-3, 5-7, 6-4 and Detroit Mercy's Patryk Koscielski, 6-4, 4-6, 6-1. Marko Guzina also won a pair of matches over Billy Shisler of Michigan State on court four and then closed the day with a straight set defeat over Detroit's Rafael Orantes at the No. 3 spot. Collin Rigney, along with teammates Nemanja Guzina, Conner Andersen and Andrew Stutz also posted singles victories for the Cardinals.
The Ball State men's tennis team continues spring action Friday, Feb. 5 against Big Ten foe Indiana. First serve is at 10 a.m.
