PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Ball State (0-4) field hockey team settled a 0-1 final against LaSalle (2-2) Sunday afternoon to complete the four road matchups prior to the home opener.
Junior goalkeeper Jordan Dues (Fallbrook, Calif./Fallbrook) tallied three saves for a .750 save percentage, while the Cardinals marked five shot attempts.
LaSalle attacked the net with nine attempted shots, which included four on net. Scoring in the 23rd minute, LaSalle's Devin Muracco tallied the lone goal of the game, and throughout the 70 minutes the Explorers capitalized off of nine corners to the Cardinals five.
Freshman Michelle Shampton (Dayton, Ohio/Oakwood), who scored her first collegiate goal against Villanova on Friday evening, was the lone Cardinal to register a shot on goal against LaSalle's goalkeeper Rachel Hartman.
The Ball State field hockey team opens home action Tuesday, Sept. 8, when they take on No. 10 Northwestern at 3 p.m. on the Ball State Turf Field in the Briner Sports Complex.
