Women's Tennis Finishes Play At Wildcat Invite
September 27, 2015 | Women's Tennis
EVANSTON, Ill. - The Ball State women's tennis team finished its final day of competition at the Wildcat Invite hosted by Northwestern.
"Day three of any tournament is always going to come down to toughness,” Ball State assistant women's tennis coach Tessa Lyons said.I thought we came out flat in doubles but responded well in singles. The goal of this tournament was to get good match play for three straight days and we got what we asked for. It was a great starting point and gave us an idea of where we are to help us get where we want to be."
The Cardinals competed in two rounds of doubles and one round of singles play. Ball State lost all four of its doubles matches but rebounded in singles action closing out the day with two victories.
True freshman Peyton Golloher ended the invitational with only one loss. Golloher defeated Mela Jaglarz of Drake, 6-1, 6-0 in her final match. Carmen Blanco also won in straight sets after registering a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Eastern Michigan's Andrea Martinovska.
Toni Ormond put up a good fight against Michigan State's Aslina Chua. Ormond took the first set 6-2 but then dropped the next two sets for the loss.
The Ball State women's tennis team continues fall action at the University of Cincinnati Invite, Oct. 9 in Cincinnati, Ohio.
