Lindley Paces Women?s Golf on Cardinal Classic Day 1

YORKTOWN, Ind. -- Allison Lindley turned her game up in the afternoon to lead the Ball State women's golf team Monday at its own Cardinal Classic.
Lindley played her final nine holes at 4 under par to close with a second-round 70. The junior from Kokomo, Ind., is 3 over (147) after Monday's opening two rounds and tied for 10th on the individual leaderboard.
Ball State sits in ninth place out of 16 teams with one round to play. The Cardinals posted a 36-hole score of 617 (314-303) on a picture perfect day at The Players Club.
Eastern Kentucky took control of the team race with a pair of under par rounds. The Colonels are 4 under (572) and lead their closest competitor, Eastern Michigan (594), by 22 strokes. Northern Illinois (596), Xavier (597) and Bowling Green (601) round out the top 5.
EKU teammates Becky Sharpe and Sofie Levin share the individual 36-hole lead at 2 under par.
Lindley played her first nine holes of the tournament in 7 over par but turned things around to shoot 4 under for her final 27 holes. She birdied five of her last nine holes of the day to climb into the top 10. Her score of 70 in the second round was a career best.
Morgan Nadaline is the second Ball State player on the individual leaderboard in a tie for 41st at 156 (79-77). Kelsey Sear (80-77) and Kayla Adamson (78-79) are tied at 157, while Sydney Anderson rounds out the lineup at 165 (85-80).
Ball State's Karley Dobis and Meghan McDougall are competing this week as individuals. Dobis shot 162 (85-77), while McDougall sat out the morning round because of illness and came back to card an 83 in the afternoon.
The third and final round of the Cardinal Classic will be played Tuesday with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. Live scoring is available at golfstat.com.
