Soccer Tabbed Co-Favorite in MAC West Division

MUNCIE, Ind. -- The Ball State soccer team was selected as a co-favorite to win the Mid-American Conference West Division in the league's preseason poll.
The Cardinals received five of the 12 first-place votes from the league's head coaches, tying with Western Michigan. Eastern Michigan received the other two first-place votes in the West Division to finish third in the preseason voting.
Defending league champion Buffalo was picked to win the East Division, followed by Miami and Kent State. Miami was the favorite to win the conference tournament, collecting six votes, while Ball State, Buffalo and Western Michigan each received two votes.
Ball State is coming off a second-place finish in the West Division last year. The Cardinals reached the semifinals of the MAC Tournament for the second year in a row. The team posted a 3-0 exhibition win against IUPUI last weekend and opens the regular season Friday evening at Jacksonville State.
