TOTTENHAM, Ontario -- Rising junior Kelsey Sear of the Ball State women's golf team won the Golf Association of Ontario Women's Match Play Championship last week.
A native of Unionville, Ontario, Sear was the No. 5 seed after one round of stroke play and then won four matches in two days to claim the title. The tournament was played on The Legend Course at Woodington Lake Golf Club.
Sear defeated Casey Ward, 1 up, in Thursday's championship match. She got up and down for par on the 18th hole to secure the win. Earlier in the day, she was a 2 up winner against Ivy Steinberg in the semifinals.
Sear and the women's golf team are less than a month away from opening their fall season. The Cardinals will tee it up Sept. 6 at Illinois State's Redbird Invitational in Normal, Ill.
