MUNCIE, Ind. -- The Ball State men's golf program has signed Central Indiana native and University of Illinois transfer Colin Proctor to scholarship papers.
Proctor, an Anderson, Ind., product and Pendleton Heights High School graduate, redshirted in his one season at Illinois and will have four years of eligibility with the Cardinals.
"We welcome Colin to the Ball State golf family," Cardinals coach Mike Fleck said. "He spent a valuable year with one of the best programs in college golf, learning and competing with All-American student-athletes. Colin is a powerful player, and his skills will push our young, talented roster.”
Proctor was part of an Illinois program that was ranked No. 1 in the country for much of the season. The Illini reached the semifinals of the NCAA Championships.
Ranked the No. 5 player in the state of Indiana during his junior career, Proctor placed third at the Hoosier Junior Championship and eighth at the Indiana Boys State Junior Championship in 2013. He also won a Golfweek Junior Tour Event at Notre Dame's Warren Golf Course in 2013.
Proctor won two high school sectional titles for Pendleton Heights and also helped the Arabians to a pair of team sectional championships.
He will join November signees Timothy Wiseman of Corydon, Ind., and Tyler Pearson of Richmond, Ind., in Ball State's class of newcomers for 2015-16.
