NCAA Men?s Golf Noblesville Regional Field Announced

MUNCIE, Ind. – Fourth-ranked Illinois and two-time defending national champion Alabama headline the field for the NCAA Men's Golf Noblesville Regional, which will be played May 14-16 at The Sagamore Club.
The field of 14 teams and five individuals was announced Monday on Golf Channel's Morning Drive. Ball State is hosting the Regional in conjunction with the Hamilton County Sports Authority and The Sagamore Club.
Illinois is the top seed in Noblesville, while Oregon, UCLA, Alabama and SMU round out the top five seeds. Those teams are all ranked among the top 30 in the country. The individuals at Sagamore include a pair of local players in IUPUI's Jose Pablo Segurola and Ball State freshman Johnny Watts, a Fishers, Ind., product who earned his spot by virtue of winning the Mid-American Conference Championships.
The Sagamore Club is a par-72, 7,173-yard Jack Nicklaus design that previously served as the host for the 2010 NCAA Division II Men's Golf National Championships. Former Ball State men's golfer Dan Witt (1999-2002) is the course's head professional.
Sagamore is one of six Regional sites across the country along with the UNC Finley Golf Course in Chapel Hill, N.C. (host North Carolina), The Farms Golf Club in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif. (host San Diego), The Rawls Course in Lubbock, Texas (host Texas Tech), Gold Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton, Wash. (host Washington) and The Course at Yale in New Haven, Conn. (host Yale).
The top five teams from each regional, along with the top individual not associated with one of those teams, will advance to the NCAA Championships, which will be played May 29-June 3 at The Concession Golf Club in Bradenton, Fla.
