Women?s Golf Again Earns NCAA Public Recognition
May 22, 2015 | Women's Golf
MUNCIE, Ind. – For the second year in a row the Ball State women's golf team earned an NCAA Public Recognition Award for its high marks in the classroom.
The awards are based on the latest multi-year NCAA Division I Academic Progress Rate (APR) and go to teams whose scores rank in the top 10 percent within their respective sports. This year's scores are based on the APR from the 2010-11, 2011-12, 2012-13 and 2013-14 academic years.
The APR provides a real-time look at a team's academic success each semester by tracking the academic progress of each student-athlete on scholarship. It accounts for eligibility, retention and graduation and provides a measure of each team's academic performance. Multi-year APR scores for all Division I teams will be announced May 27.
The NCAA publically recognized 1,124 teams, the highest total in the 10-year history of the award program. The scores required to be in the top 10 percent ranged from 980 to a perfect 1,000, depending on the sport. A record 953 teams earned public recognition with a perfect APR score.
Ball State recently celebrated its 2015 spring commencement with 32 student-athletes earning their undergraduate degrees.
