MBB Signee Tahjai Teague Named Indiana All-Star
April 20, 2015 | Men's Basketball
MUNCIE, Ind. -- Tahjai Teague, an incoming freshman for the Ball State men's basketball team, was named Monday as an Indiana All-Star.
The 6-foot-8 Teague was one of 14 high school seniors selected to the team, which will compete against the Kentucky All-Stars in the annual series this summer.
Teague averaged 13.7 points, 9.8 rebounds and 2.3 blocks this season for a balanced team at Pike High School in Indianapolis. He was selected to the all-state team by the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association.
“We want to congratulate Tahjai on this well-deserved honor,” Ball State coach James Whitford said. “He had a terrific senior season on a very good team and was rewarded for it. I believe Indiana has the best high school basketball in America, and recruiting the best players from the state has always been a goal of our program. We are pleased to add Tahjai to the list of great Indiana players who have played at Ball State over the years.”
Teague will join 2014 Indiana All-Stars Sean Sellers and Jeremie Tyler on next year's Ball State roster. It is the first time the Cardinals have signed an Indiana All-Star in consecutive years since 2000-01 and the first time they have had three All-Stars on the same team since the 2001-02 season.
The Indiana All-Star Team also includes Caleb Swanigan (Homestead), Joel Okafor (Richmond), Harris Brown (Howe), Devin Cannady (Mishawaka Marian), Ryan Cline (Carmel), Jaelan Sanford (Evansville Reitz), Ryan Fazekas (Michigan City Marquette), K.J. Walton (Brownsburg), Sean McDermott (Pendleton Heights), Ryan Welage (Greensburg), Matt Holba (Guerin Catholic), Derrik Smits (Zionsville) and Josh Speidel (Columbus North).
The team will play exhibition games against the Indiana Junior All-Stars on June 8 at Richmond and June 10 at Columbus North. The games with the Kentucky All-Stars are scheduled for June 12 in Lexington, Ky., and June 13 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
Teague's fellow Ball State signee, Trey Moses of Eastern High School in Louisville, is a candidate for the Kentucky All-Stars.
