April 17, 2015 | Men's Golf
The Ball State men's golf team will compete in the final event of its regular season this weekend at Purdue's Boilermaker Invitational.
The action begins with 36 holes Saturday and concludes with 18 holes Sunday on the Kampen Course in West Lafayette, Ind. Live scoring will be available at birdiefire.com.
The tournament has a strong Midwestern flavor with 11 of the 15 teams coming from the Big Ten and Mid-American conferences. No. 4-ranked Illinois headlines the field, which also includes top-100 teams Louisville (44), GRU Augusta (49), Ohio State (53), Purdue (57), Northwestern (79) and Kent State (82).
Ball State, Cincinnati, Miami (Ohio), Indiana, Northern Illinois, Toledo, Wisconsin and Southern Illinois round out the field.
The Cardinals' lineup will feature McCormick Clouser, Johnny Watts, Michael VanDeventer, Tyler Ostrom and Zach Yinger. Ostrom will join the lineup after missing the entire spring season so far with an injury. Additionally, Michael Makris will compete as an individual.
The tournament is Ball State's final tuneup for the Mid-American Conference Championships, which will be held May 1-3 at the Mayfield Sand Ridge Club in Chardon, Ohio.
