
Men's Tennis Loses At Vanderbilt, 7-0

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Ball State men's tennis team dropped to 6-7 on the season after the team lost 7-0 Sunday to Vanderbilt at the Commodores Currey Tennis Center.
The Cardinals lost the doubles point to enter singles play down 1-0. The No. 1 ranked pair Gonzales Austin and Rhys Johnson clinched the doubles point after defeating Ball State's duo Patrick Elliott and Andrew Stutz by a score of 6-2 on court one.
In singles play, court five was the first match to wrap up, as freshman Collin Rigney fell to the Commodores Jeffrey Offerdahl, 6-4, 6-0. Vanderbilt then went up 3-0 after Baker Newman took down Jan Jirus 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 4 singles position. The Commodores clinched the win after Daniel Valent defeated Ray Leonard 6-3, 6-2 on court two.
The Ball State men's tennis team continues non-conference action at home Friday against IUPUI in the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center starting at 3:00 p.m.
