March 16, 2015 | Soccer
MUNCIE, Ind. -- The Ball State soccer team opened its spring schedule Sunday afternoon with a pair of games at the Briner Sports Complex.
The Cardinals played Oakland to a 1-1 draw and then posted a 2-0 victory over Siena Heights.
Leah Mattingly, a returning All-MAC player, scored a goal in both games, while Lauren Hall added the second goal against Siena Heights.
Goalkeeper Alyssa Heintschel played both games and logged the shutout in game two.
“Overall we were pleased today,” Ball State coach Craig Roberts said. “It was a chance for us to identify some areas we need to work on. Our intensity was good, and our players did what we were asking them to do. It was also a chance to gain experience for some of our younger players, who are already showing a lot of maturity and growth.”
The Cardinals will play their spring schedule over the next month. They will be back in action March 21 at the Briner Sports Complex.
