Men's Tennis Loses At No. 30 Indiana Sunday, 4-0

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Ball State men's tennis team suffered a 4-0 loss to No. 30 Indiana Sunday afternoon at the IU Tennis Center. With the loss, the Cardinals fall to 5-7 on the season while the Hoosiers improve to 9-5 overall.
"I thought we came out ready to play in doubles today and had some chances but didn't convert," Ball State head men's tennis coach Bill Richards said. "I had hoped to push them more in singles but We had some sets where we got blown out and let them off too easy.we have to move forward and keep getting better."
On court one, Daniel Bednarczyk and Sam Monette started doubles off for the Hoosiers with a 6-4 win over the Lucas Andersen and Patrick Elliott. Sven Lalic and Raheel Manji clinched the doubles point for IU after defeating Matt Helm and Andrew Stutz 6-4 at the No. 3 doubles position.
In singles action, the Cardinals soon fell behind 2-0 to the Hoosiers after Elliott dropped a straight set match to Lalic on court three. Mathew McCoy put IU up 3-0 after taking down Jan Jirus 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 4 singles position and then Monette took the fourth and final point from Ball State with his 6-4, 6-3 victory over Ray Leonard on court one.
The Ball State men's tennis team will continue its non-conference action on the road Saturday when it plays at Illinois State at 1 p.m. in Normal, Ill. After that, the Cardinals return home for their first Mid-American Conference competition of the season, when Ball State hosts Toledo Friday, March 27 at 1 p.m. in the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center.
