
Men's Tennis Loses 7-0 To No. 60 Michigan State

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State men's tennis team lost 7-0 on Saturday afternoon against No. 60 Michigan State at the Muncie YMCA Tennis Center. With the loss, the Cardinals fall to 2-4 on the season while the Spartans improve to 5-3 overall.
The Cardinals lost the doubles points to enter singles play down 1-0. Patrick Elliott paired up with Andrew Stutz at No. 1 singles and put up a good 7-6 fight against Gijs Linders and Brett Forman. At No. 2 doubles, Ray Leonard alongside teammate Colin Rigney also took Michigan State's duo to the very end but would end up losing also by a score of 7-6.
Michigan State would take all six singles matches from Ball State. Andersen fell to Linders in a two-set tiebreaker at the No. 1 singles position. Newcomer Jan Jirus managed to take a set from Mac Roy at the No. 4 spot but lost 5-7, 6-4, 10-7, the remainder of the Cardinals fell to the Spartans in straight sets.
The Ball State men's tennis team will face its second-straight ranked opponent Sunday afternoon when it travels to No. 14 Notre Dame for a 10 a.m. first serve.
