February 14, 2015 | Women's Golf
The Ball State women's golf team opens its spring season Sunday at the Delta Gamma Challenge in New Braunfels, Texas.
The two-day, 54-hole event, hosted by Texas State, will be played at Landa Park Golf Club. The action begins both days at 8:30 a.m. CT (9:30 ET) with live scoring at birdiefire.com.
The tournament features six of the top 100 teams in the Golfstat rankings: Houston (51), Idaho (76), New Mexico State (78), Lamar (94), UALR (96) and Texas State (97). The14-team field also includes Cal State Fullerton, Sam Houston State, Houston Baptist, Missouri State, UTEP, Stephen F. Austin and Youngstown State.
Ball State's lineup will feature senior Jenna Hague, juniors Karley Dobis and Meghan McDougall, and sophomores Allison Lindley and Kelsey Sear.
Hague set the Ball State 54-hole scoring record at last year's tournament, known then as the Jim West Challenge. That event was played at The Bandit Golf Club, where Hague carded a 1-over par total of 214. Ball State finished sixth as a team.
The Delta Gamma Challenge is one of five events on Ball State's spring schedule before the Mid-American Conference Championships in late April.
