Two in Top 20 for Men?s Golf at Firestone

AKRON, Ohio -- The Ball State men's golf team has two players -- Johnny Watts and Michael Makris -- in the top 20 through two rounds at the Firestone Invitational.
The Cardinals are 14th as a team after Monday's 36 holes on the North Course at Firestone Country Club.
Ball State posted a total of 14-over oar 590 (297-293) on a day when scores were low. Maryland (-7) leads the way, followed by Akron (-3) in second and Xavier (Even) in third.
Watts is the top Cardinal on the individual leaderboard in a tie for 15th at 1-under par 143 (72-71), while Makris is tied for 20th at even-par 144 (71-73).
Timothy Wiseman, competing as an individual, is the next Ball State player in a tie for 43rd at 147 (74-73).
Maryland's David Kocher (-8) leads the way through two rounds, followed closely by Toledo's Otto Black (-7).
The third and final round will be played Tuesday. Derek Kundenreich will be the first Ball State player off the 10th tee at 9:15 a.m. Live scoring is available at birdiefire.com.
