Field Hockey Hosts Missouri State In Conference Play
October 21, 2015 | Field Hockey
MUNCIE, Ind. – The Ball State (2-13, 0-3 MAC) field hockey team will continue Mid-American Conference action this week when hosts Missouri State (5-10, 2-2 MAC) Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. The matchup will also feature an alumni recognition session at halftime to show appreciation for all the alumni have done to help the field hockey program become what it is today.
Last weekend, the Cardinals fell to Ohio 4-1 in MAC play on the road, despite redshirt sophomore Merinda Morley (University City, Mo./University City) notching a goal for the second game in a row, making it her fourth of the season.
Morley scored when she was ready to pop in the rebound shot from a deflection on a Ball State penalty corner attempt. Attempts at the top of the circle have been crucial, as Morley's fourth goal of the season was her third to come off of the penalty corner advantage.
Overall this season, junior Lexi Kavanaugh (Sherrill, N.Y./Vernon Verona Sherrill) remains as the leading scorer for the Cardinals 15 games in, with 17 points (seven goals, three assists). On the season, starting goalkeeper Jordan Dues (Fallbrook, Calif./Fallbrook) holds a .642 save percentage, 3.38 GAA and a total of 88 saves as the 15-time starting goalkeeper. Dues ranks second in the MAC with 88 saves, and 5.87 saves per game.

The Bears defense is limiting opponents to just 2.66 goals and 7.73 shots on goal per game. Missouri State is led by alum Gabby Gomez Sosa.
