Men's Tennis Falls To Wisconsin-Green Bay & Illinois

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - The Ball State men's tennis team lost both of its matches in Illinois Friday when it fell 5-2 to Wisconsin-Green Bay in the early match and then fell 7-0 to Illinois in the night match.
Against the Pheonix the Cardinals took an early 1-0 edge after winning the doubles point. Patrick Elliott and Lucas Andersen took down the Green Bay twosome of Michael Tenzer and Howard Scott 6-3 at the No. 1 position. At No. 2 doubles, Ray Leonard paired up with Andrew Stutz to earn a 6-2 defeat over Michael Tebon and Joey Leto.
In singles action the Pheonix would come back to take five of the six matches for the victory. Andersen was the lone Cardinal to win in singles action after posting a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Leopold Gomen Isling at the No. 2 position.
The Cardinals would then close the day with a dual match against Big Ten foe Illinois. Ball State dropped all of its matches against the Fighting Illini. Ray Leonard took his opponent to three sets but would lose at the No. 3 singles position 3-6, 6-0, 6-1 to Aron Hiltzik.
The Ball State men's tennis team will return to the Muncie YMCA Tennis Center Sunday when it hosts Eastern Illinois at 1 p.m.
