Women?s Swim & Dive Defeats Milwaukee 128-114

MUNCIE, Ind. – The Ball State women's swimming and diving team took down Milwaukee 128-114 Friday evening in the double dual meet hosted with the Ball State men's swim and dive team and IUPUI. The Cardinals posted 14 top-three finishes with four event wins on the day.
Ball State started out strong with a first place finish in the 400 medley relay at 3:56.47 by the combination of senior Carlena Magley, sophomores Courtney Mudd and Katie Horn, along with freshman Amanda Kedzierski to open the meet. Magley also clocked a 53.02 time to gain a top finish in the 100 free, as well as a 24.53 time for second in the 50 free.
Sophomore Audrey Rodawig gained a first place finish when she touched the wall at 57.55 in the 100 fly, along with a second place time in the 200 free relay at 1:39.63 to close out the night's action. Rodawig narrowly settled for third in the 50 free behind Magley (24.53) when she clocked a 24.67, while she was followed by sophomore Jessica Extine who turned in a 24.85.
Kedzierski marked a 1:06.14 in the 100 breast to round out the first place finishes for the Cardinals through the meet.
Diving action showed great improvement with four career-bests added to the books. Freshman Taylor Fiew tallied two career bests with her 1- and 3-meter scores at 240.55 and 241.45, respectively. Sophomore Brittany Penn turned in the top diving finish for Ball State at third place in the 1-meter with a 248.30 career-best score, while fellow sophomore Quinn Bixler finished fourth in the 3-meter at 252.25 with her new career-best.
The Ball State women's swimming and diving team will be back in action Saturday, Jan. 24 when they hold their final home event of the season at Lewellen Aquatic Center at 1 p.m. against Mid-American Conference opponent Miami. The meet will feature a senior recognition program prior to the start of the event.
