Women's Tennis Opens 2015 Season At Home Sunday

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State women's tennis team opens the 2015 spring schedule Sunday when it hosts Detroit Mercy at 2 p.m. in the Muncie YMCA Tennis Center.
The Cardinals begin their 38th year of tennis at Ball State which began with the 1977-78 season. Max Norris, begins his second season as the Ball State women's tennis coach. In his first year as head coach of the Cardinals, Norris led Ball State to a 16-9 overall mark, while finishing conference action with a 6-2 ledger. The 16 wins were the most for Ball State since it won 16 in 1994-95. Ball State's 6-2 MAC record also marked the best finish in program history. The most league wins prior to this season was five which happened on five different occasions, the last time being 2013-14 when Ball State finished 5-3.
Ball State returns five letterwinners from last season. The Cardinals welcome back Courtney Wild who for the third-straight season received First Team All-Mid-American Conference honors. Courtney Earnest was named First Team All-MAC for the first time in her career. The Cardinals also welcome back veterans Bethany Moore, Toni Ormond and Ashlyn Range along with newcomers Rosalinda Calderon and Olivia Large.
Following today's match the Ball State women's tennis team will host Wright State (Jan. 24) and Youngstown State (Feb. 1) at the Muncie YMCA Tennis Center.
