Women's Tennis Competes In Fall Play Against Butler

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State women's tennis team opened fall play at home with a doubleheader against Butler Saturday. The Cardinals won all six doubles competitions and won 12 of their 14 singles matches.
"It was a good first event for the fall," Ball State head women's tennis coach Max Norris said. "Butler has a solid team and I believe they are better than they were last year. I thought all of our players fought hard and came out both in the morning and afternoon with urgency. I was excited to see them play as a team for the first time. We are excited to go forward from here and prepare for the UC Invite in three weeks."
The Cardinals began the day with three doubles matches, Courtney Earnest and Bethany Moore paired up to take down the Bulldogs twosome of Konstantina Adami and Jocelyn Koester, 8-5. Rosalinda Calderon alongside teammate Courtney Wild defeated Kylie Haviland and Angelina Quin, 8-6. The twosome of Toni Ormond and Olivia Large rounded out the first three victories with an 8-4 defeat over Rachel Sutton and Jordan Minnick.
In singles action, Ball State played 14 total matches and won 12 of them. Earnest, Rang, Ormond, Moore and Large all won their matches in straight sets. Wild took down her first opponent Kailey Eaton 7-5, 6-2 in the first round of matches and went on to win a three set thriller in the Cardinals second match of the day against the Bulldogs.
