Five Women?s Tennis Players Earn Academic All-MAC

CLEVELAND, Ohio. – The Ball State women's tennis team had five members receive 2014 Academic All-Mid-American Conference honors, which was announced by the league office.
Three players Courtney Earnest, Kristel Sanders and Courtney Wild, garnered academic All-MAC Team honors, while Bethany Moore and Ashlyn Rang received honorable mention.
This is the second time Sanders and Wild have received an academic award from the MAC. Sanders, an international business major, graduated from Ball State in May with a 3.75 GPA. Wild is majoring in speech pathology with a 3.78 GPA and is a three-time First Team All-MAC honoree. Both Wild and Sanders also garnered MAC Player of the Week and Doubles Player of the Week awards this season.
Earnest, a pre-nursing major, holds a 3.78 GPA as a sophomore. She ended the season with a 16-5 dual match mark, while posting a 6-2 conference ledger. Earnest was a First Team All-MAC selection this season, while also earning MAC Player of the Week honors.
Moore and Rang received honorable mention after helping the Cardinals to a 16-9 overall mark and finishing conference action with a 6-2 ledger. The 16 wins were the most for Ball State since it won 16 in 1994-95. Ball State's 6-2 MAC record also marked the best finish in program history. The most league wins prior to this season was five which happened on five different occasions, the last time being 2013-14 when Ball State finished 5-3.
