Women's Tennis Hosts Doubleheader Saturday

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State women's tennis team hosts a doubleheader Saturday against Marquette at 12 p.m. and Dayton at 5 p.m. at the Muncie YMCA Tennis Center.
The Cardinals are coming off of back-to-back wins over Cincinnati and IPFW last weekend. Ball State is 7-1 this season with wins over Valaparaiso (7-0), IUPUI (7-0), Oakland University (6-1), Michigan State (4-3), Cleveland State (6-1), Cincinnati (6-1) and IPFW (6-1). The Cardinals' lone loss came against Kentucky (4-2). Marquette is currently 4-3 on the season while Dayton is 5-1 in dual action.
This week Toni Ormond and Kristel Sanders were named the Mid-American Conference Doubles Team of the Week Honor. Ormond and Sanders went 2-0 at No. 2 doubles over the course of the weekend. The twosome defeated Cincinnati's Lauren Bellinger and Ashleigh Witte 8-4 and then IPFW's Miloslava Shustova and Emily Richardson, 8-3. Ormond and Sanders were the first matches off the court in both doubles points, helping the Cardinals earn 6-1 victories over the Bearcats Saturday and the Mastodons Sunday. The twosome is now 4-1 overall.
The Ball State women's tennis team continues its weekend of dual action when it travels to Big Ten foe Indiana University Sunday. First serve will begin at 3:30 p.m. in Bloomington.
