Women's Swim & Dive Complete Eastern Michigan Invite

YPSILANTI, Mich. – Ball State women's swimming and diving team completed the Eastern Michigan Invitational fourth of six teams in attendance with a final team score of 643.5. In the co-ed invite, the Ball State men's team finished third of five teams with a score of 562.
The women's swim and dive team set 53 new season best times in individual events, along with four new relay season bests. Among those with new season best records set was senior Carlena Magley, who earned third in the 100 free with a 50.72 time, and fifth in the 50 free at 23.82. Overall she set three new season bests in individual events, two of which rank top on the team. Magley rounded out her success with two season best times in the 400 free (3:28.15) and 800 free (7:41.08) relays as well.
Senior Jordan VanWinkle recorded three relay year's top times in the 400 free (3:28.15), 800 free (7:41.08) and 400 medley (3:58.67) relays in addition to a second and third place finish in individual events throughout the two day event. Along with Magley, VanWinkle set three season bests in individual events, two of which rank top on the team, including her second place finish in the 1650 free (17:14.44) and fourth place finish in the 200 free (1:52.36).
Freshman Amanda Kedzierski found her years top times in three events, including the 100 breast, 200 breast and 200 IM. With her third place finish overall in the 100 breast, Kedzierski set the Cardinals top time of the year in the event at 1:04.00. She also leads the team in the 200 breast with a 2:20.01 finish and rounded out her weekend with a solid 2:09.96 time in the 200 IM.
Fellow freshman Jenna Zitkus topped off the Cardinals top-three finishes with her 58.05 finish in the 100 back to finish third overall in the Invite, but also to set the team's season best in the event.
The Ball State women's swimming and diving team will be back in action after winter break on Friday, Jan. 9, when they travel to Indianapolis, Ind. for a co-ed meet with IUPUI and Xavier at 6 p.m.
