IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Ball State (3-7) field hockey team dropped an 8-0 final to No. 7 Iowa (8-2) Friday night at Grant Field. The match was the Cardinals third Big Ten Conference opponent of the season.
Sophomore goalkeeper Jordan Dues (Fallbrook, Calif./Fallbrook) made her season debut in goal with five saves and a 0.714 save percentage after junior Shelby Henley (Novi, Mich./Novi) recorded two in the first half.
“Today we were outmatched by Iowa. They were fast and disciplined and have incredible scoring power on their front line,” Ball State field hockey head coach Beth Maddox said. “We were able to work on some things and make adjustments and we will use this as a learning opportunity.”
Iowa was led by sophomore Stephanie Norlander and senior Dani Hemeon who both netted hat tricks in the match, each first scoring a goal in just the fifth minute of the game.
The Ball State field hockey team returns with home action Saturday, Oct. 11, when they take on Mid-American Conference foe Missouri State at noon and Sunday, Oct. 12 against Michigan State at 1 p.m. at the Briner Sports Complex.
