October 31, 2014 | Men's Golf
MUNCIE, Ind. – Ball State's McCormick Clouser was named the Mid-American Conference Co-Golfer of the Week on Friday for the third time this fall.
Clouser tied for fourth place to lead the Cardinals earlier this week at the FGCU Classic. The senior from Bluffton, Ind., fired a 54-hole total of 1-over par 217 (77-69-71) at Old Corkscrew Golf Club in Estero, Fla.
He was under par in each of the final two rounds on the way to his third top-five finish of the fall. His second-round 69 was the second-best score of any player in the field all week and was more than eight shots better than the average second-round score.
Clouser finished three shots behind individual medalist AJ Crouch of Florida and just one stroke behind a Florida State duo both ranked in the top 50 nationally. The Seminoles are the No.1-ranked team in the country according to Golfstat.
Clouser wrapped up the fall portion of the schedule with a 73.58 stroke average, including a career-best 66 in the opening round of the Fighting Irish Classic. He won that tournament for his first collegiate victory.
He shares this week's honor with Toledo's Mike Lancaster who won the Rocket Individual Classic.
