Women's Tennis Competes at ITA/USTA Regionals

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State women's tennis team competed at the ITA/USTA Regionals over the weekend which was hosted by the University of Tennessee.
In singles main draw action, senior Courtney Wild fell to Verginie Tchakarova of Murray State in three sets 4-6, 6-1, 6-4. Wild then went on to play in the consolation bracket earning 6-4, 6-1 victory over Kentucky's Stephanie Fox. Junior Courtney Earnest joined Wild in the singles main draw also losing to her opponent East Tennessee State's Ana Gerbasi, 2-6, 6-3, 6-4. Earnest also moved onto the consolation bracket but lost to Kentucky's Kirsten Lewis 6-2, 7-6 (5).
Earnest paired up with junior Bethany Moore in the doubles main draw. The Ball State twosome took on fellow Mid-American Conference opponent Miami's duo of Hannah Shteyn and Alix Thurman which resulted in a close 8-7 (7-3) loss for the Cardinals.
The Ball State women's tennis team closes out its fall action when it travels to Tuscaloosa, Ala. for the Roberta Alison Invitational (Oct. 31-Nov. 2).
