Women's Tennis Ends Competition At UC Invite

CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Ball State women's tennis team finished its competition at the Cincinnati Fall Invitational Saturday afternoon after playing two rounds of doubles and two singles matches.
The Cardinals took on Mid-American Conference foe Bowling Green and Xavier. Against the Falcons, Ball State swept all three doubles matches. Bethany Moore and Courtney Earnest took down Harley Hutchinson and teammate Maddy Adams, 8-6. Courtney Wild paired up with doubles partner Toni Ormond and defeated Hannah Drayton and Megan Miller, 8-4. Rounding out the doubles victory for Ball State over the Falcons was Olivia Large and Ashlyn Range who took down Brittany Plaszewski and Emily Witt, 8-4.
In singles action, the Cardinals won five of the six matches against BGSU. Rosalinda Calderon earned a straight set win over Hutchinson while Ormond and Moore also won in two sets. Wild won her match over Adams in three sets (6-3, 4-6, 10-5) and Courtney Earnest won a two set tiebreaker 6-0, 7-6 (1) against Drayton.
The Ball State women's tennis team continues fall action Oct. 17 at the ITA/USTA Regional Championships.
