Women's Tennis Competes At Cincinnati Invitational

CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Ball State women's tennis team competed in its second fall invitational hosted by the University of Cincinnati Friday afternoon.
In singles action, Courtney Earnest took down host Cincinnati's Katya Bure in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2. Sophomore Toni Ormond defeated Hannah Wille 6-3, 7-6 while junior Bethany moore managed a 7-5, 6-3 defeat over Natalie Abdalla.
The Cardinals participated in two doubles competitions for the day. The twosome of Moore and Earnest defeated Mid-American Conference foe Harley Hutchinson and Maddy Adams of Bowling Green by a score of 8-6. Courtney Wild and Rosalinda Calderon managed an 8-5 victory over Hannah Drayton and Megan Miller, 8-5. Ormond and newcomer Olivia Large rounded out the sweep over the Falcons after posting an 8-4 win over Brittany Plaszewski alongside teammate Emily Witt. In the second doubles competition Ball State fell to Xavier in all three matches.
The Ball State women's tennis team continues fall action at the Cincinnati Invitational Saturday before competing at the Intercollegiate USTA Regional Championships in Knoxville, Tenn. (Oct. 17-21).
