Women's Tennis Completes Day One of Wake Forest

SALEM, N.C. - The Ball State women's tennis team ended day one of its second fall invitational Friday at Wake Forest.
The Cardinals ended the day with a 6-1 singles mark and a 4-4 doubles record. The twosome of Courtney Wild and Ashlyn Rang, beat Appalachin State's Megan Mullen and Jessica Thaggard, 8-3 in the first round of flight B doubles. Wild and Rang would then take down Elon's Maria Camara and Taylor Casey, 8-7 (5), advancing them to the semifinals Saturday.
In singles action, Courtney Earnest won in straight sets and will face Tamara Stanic of Campbell, Saturday in the flight B bracket. After dropping the first set 6-4 to Richmond's Elizabeth Sims, Rang came back to win 6-3, 6-4 in flight C singles. Also in flight C, Kristel Sanders won her first round in straight sets. Other winners on the day in singles competition were; Bethany Moore, Toni Ormond and Marin Kanii.
The Ball State women's tennis team continues fall action at the Wake Forest Invitational Saturday and will conclude play on Sunday.
