Women's Tennis Takes Down In-State Rival IPFW, 5-2

FORT WAYNE, Ind.- The Ball State women's tennis team defeated in-state rival IPFW 5-2 Friday nigh in Fort Wayne. With the win the Cardinals improve to 7-1 on the season.
Ball State took the doubles point from the Mastodons after Courtney Wild and Courtney Earnest took down the IPFW twosome of Anita Henestrosa and Caterina Kiefer by a score of 8-4. At the No. 2 spot, Bethany Moore paired up with teammate Kristel Sanders for the 8-4 defeat over Miloslava Shustova and Theresa Neumeyr.
In singles play, Earnest put the Cardinals up 2-0 over the Mastodons with a straight set victory overt Henestrosa at the No. 2 slot. Ashlyn Rang dropped her match at No. 6 singles to make the match 2-1. Wild would win at the No. 1 position and Sanders would follow at her respective spot which put the Cardinals up 4-1. Bethany Moore dropped her first set to Theresa Neumeyr but came back to win 3-6, 6-1, 7-6 (7-3) at the No. 5 slot.
The Ball State women's tennis team travels to Big Ten foe Indiana Sunday. First serve is at 4 p.m.
