Men's Volleyball Suffers Setback at Loyola-Chicago

CHICAGO – The Ball State men's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision (25-21, 25-23, 25-20) to Loyola-Chicago Saturday evening at Gentile Arena in Chicago. Senior outside hitter Greg Herceg led the way for the Cardinals with 15 kills.
Herceg had a .333 clip on the evening (15-5-30) to go with a service ace, two digs and two assisted blocks. Junior middle attacker Kevin Owens had seven kills, while fellow middle attacker Matt Leske collected five kills, a service ace and five assisted blocks.
Both BSU setters saw action on the night with senior Dan Wichmann notching 21 assists, two kills, a solo block and an assisted block. Junior setter Graham McIlvaine, who played the first set, had 10 assists and one kill.
Ball State hit .247 on the night (38-16-89) to Loyola-Chicago's .356 hitting percentage (44-12-90).
The Ramblers were led by Thomas Jaeschke and Joseph Smalzer who had 16 and 13 kills respectively.
The Cardinals fall to 8-5 on the season and 3-5 in MIVA action, while the Ramblers improve to 10-7 on the year and 3-2 in league play.
