The defender from Mason, Ohio, helped the Ball State defense shut down its opponents over the weekend and also factored heavily in a pair of key goals, helping the Cardinals win two games and claim a share of the Ball State Tournament title.
Chew gave the Cardinals the lead in the second half of Friday's 2-1 victory over Northern Kentucky, scoring with a header off a corner kick. Sunday against Xavier, she assisted on an important goal when her header onto the foot of teammate Aubrey Hauenstein led to the game-tying tally. Ball State went on defeat Xavier, 2-1, in two overtimes.
For the weekend, Chew was part of a Ball State back line that surrendered just two goals. She helped the Cardinals limit their opponents to a combined 10 shots on goal while playing all 197:41 in the field over the two games.
Ball State (2-1-0) returns to action later this week with two more home contests. The Cardinals will play host to IUPUI at 4 p.m. Friday and IPFW at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Briner Sports Complex.
