Four Men's Golfers Named All-America Scholars

Four members of the Ball State men's golf team were named Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholars. The four were the most of any NCAA Division I program.
TJ Carpenter, Joe Gasser, Tony Lazzara and Alex Stinson were each named to the team, which is selected by the Golf Coaches Association of America.
A total of 146 student-athletes were honored in NCAA Division I. To be eligible the individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in 70 percent of his team's competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 76.0 and maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2 or better.
Carpenter, a 2012 graduate of Ball State, owned a 3.267 GPA as a risk management and insurance major. He tallied a 75.20 average for the Cardinals and managed three top-20 finishes in 2011-12. Carpenter tied for first at the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational last fall for his season best finish.
Gasser, who owns a 3.284 GPA as an elementary education major, tallied a 75.30 average with three top-20 finishes. Gasser will be a senior for the Cardinals in 2012-13.
Lazzara owns a 3.367 GPA as an entrepreneurship major and will be a senior for the Cardinals this fall. Lazzara managed a 75.30 average in 2011-12 and tallied a career low 67 at the Cobra-Puma Invitational last October.
Stinson tallied a 75.42 average with three top-20 finishes last season. He owns a 3.635 GPA as a biology major.
