
Women's Tennis Drops a 4-3 Match to NIU

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State women's tennis team (5-14, 0-7 MAC) dropped a 4-3 match to Northern Illinois Saturday afternoon in the Muncie Northwest YMCA.
The Cardinals lost at No. 1 singles but rebounded after the twosome of Dena Boulieris and Lauren Pickrel took down Haley Dekkinga and Stephanie McDonald by a score of 8-6 on court three. Ball State then captured the doubles point to take an early 1-0 edge over the Huskies after Paola Rodriguez paired up with Sarah Hebble to earn the 8-4 victory over Nelle Youel and Arantza De La Torre at the No. 2 spot.
Ball State lost the match after singles action losing on courts 2, 3, 4, and 6. Freshman Courtney Wild improved her Mid-American Conference singles mark with a straight set win over Sara McLaughlin at No. 1 singles. Wild owns an overall record of 19-11 with a 4-3 league mark. Senior co-captain Sarah Hebble also beat Arantza De La Torre 0-6, 6-0, 7-6 (2) at No. 5 singles.
The Ball State women's tennis team will step away from MAC action and host IPFW Wednesday at 4 p.m.
