KISSIMMEE, Fla. - - Senior pitcher Audrey Workman (Wickenburg, Ariz./Wickenburg) limited Lipscomb to two hits in guiding the Ball State softball team to a 2-0 victory over the Lady Bison Saturday evening in BSU's second game of the day at the Citrus Classic at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Kissimmee, Fla.

Workman, who improved to 3-5 on the year, dominated the mound, surrendering just two hits and two walks over seven complete innings. She also recorded a pair of strikeouts to help the Cardinals improve to 7-6 on the year.

With two outs in the bottom of the third, the Cardinals took advantage of a walk to sophomore left fielder Jennifer Gilbert (McKinney, Texas/McKinney) thanks to an RBI triple from freshman right fielder Hanne Stuedemann (Mattawan, Mich./Mattawan) which drove in the game's first run.

A single by senior designated player Amanda Montalto (Las Vegas, Nev./Palo Verde) in the next at bat would drive in the second run, giving Workman all the support she would need.

Workman would then limit the Lady Bison(8-6) to just one hit over the final four innings to nail down the victory.

Also collecting hits for the Cardinals in the contest were sophomore first baseman Taylor Rager (Fishers, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) with a single and junior center fielder Amanda Carpenter (Santee, Calif./Santana) with a double.

Lipscomb's Ashley Anderson suffered the loss, falling to 0-3, allowing the Cardinals to post two runs on four hits over six innings. Anderson struck out three batters, while also walking three.

The Ball State softball team concludes play in the Citrus Classic Sunday afternoon with a scheduled 1:30 p.m. first pitch versus LIU Brooklyn.
